(March 6, 2009)
This full moon circle has the luminaries of the Sun and the Moon in opposition in the Mutable signs of Pisces/Virgo respectively. The Sun in the sign of Pisces is reaching its end in the Astrological Wheel, where it will begin again at 0 degrees of Aries, and the Sun moves towards the Equator, marking the Spring Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, and the Autumn Equinox in the Southern.
Under this full moon alignment, you can expect the unexpected. You may experience a need to withdraw from people and situations, to better concentrate on your spiritual development, and this would be a good thing. At the same time, it may be important to get your life in order - as they say "A tidy house makes for a tidy mind". You could liken it to a spiritual purge, with a ruthless and critical edge to it.
Knowing what you want in terms of your spiritual purpose, yet leaving no stone unturned in keeping your eyes open for even the smallest detail, research and study, philosophy and testing the deepest depths.
Keep in mind, though, that this opposition has the mutable attributes which bring about change, and the willingness to be flexible during these changes. The full moon is normally the most intense time of its lunar phase, and anything's possible. This full moon falls on the date of 11th March 2009, at 1:39PM EST.
An introduction to the Norse deities used.
In this ritual, the Norse deities are replacing the Roman counterparts who are normally in use astrologically. The translations are given below:
Tyr/Mars - Ruler of Aries, God of war, fiery male energy
The Goddess Sunna
In Norse legend, Fire and Ice created the nine worlds that pertain to their myths. Out of Muspellheim - the lowest realm of the nine worlds - Odin and his brothers took some sparks and embers, put them in the sky to form the sun, moon and stars. Sunna was given the task to drive her chariot of the sun across the sky every day. Her horses, Allsvinn (very fast) and Arvak (early rising) pull her chariot, and they are pursued by the wolf Skoll. Sometimes Skoll comes close enough to take a bite out of her. At Ragnarok (the world's end) Skoll swallows her whole. This would have significant meaning to a partial and total solar eclipse, when the sun partially and totally disappears behind the new moon.
The God Mani
Mani is the moon God who is brother to Sunna. He pulls a horse-drawn chariot every night across the skies, being pursued by the wolf Hati. Likewise Hati will get close enough to bite Mani. At Ragnarok, Hati finally swallows his prey. This would also signify a partial and total eclipse, along the lines of the lunar phases.
Consecrating the Circle
Maria to go around the circle three times, chanting as she goes anti-clockwise: By the power of the Dragons, may this circle be blessed, cleansed and sanctified.
Invocation to the Norse Deities
East/Ran - Janine: To the Goddess Ran, siren of the hidden mysteries and keeper of the mead of knowledge. Come forth now, so you may protect and charge this circle. Open the gates to us of your spiritual and occult knowledge. Hail and welcome!
North/Loki - Samantha: To the God Loki, shape-shifter and mischief maker, he who balances the laws of both Chaos and Order. Come forth now, so you may protect and charge this circle. Teach us to learn and accept the forces of Chaos and Order. Hail and welcome!
West/Odin - Andrew: To the God Odin, our Alfadir, Shaman initiate and seeker for the eternal quest of knowledge. Come forth now, so you may protect and charge this circle. Lend us your courage and Shamanic power so we may always strive to better ourselves, no matter how hard the sacrifice. Hail and welcome!
South/Thor - Charlene: To the God Thor, son of Odin, slayer of giants, loyal friend and protector of Asgard. Come forth now, so you may protect and charge this circle. Lend us your strength and fighting spirit, so we may always defend our own truth and power. Hail and welcome!
Goddess Sunna/Jenni: To the Goddess Sunna, you who pulls your fiery chariot across the sky, for whom we depend on our daily source of sunlight. Come forth now, so you may lend us your joy and optimism that your fiery energy brings. Hail and welcome!
God Mani/Ray: To the God Mani, brother of night, the luminary whose face constantly changes, keeper of our dreams and whisperer of our intuition. Come forth now, so you may allow us to further tap into our intuitive knowledge and understand our dreams. Hail and welcome!
The circle is now consecrated and charged, we are between worlds. The next phase of the ritual will be a guided meditation, where you will meet the guide who rules your chart (by the Ascendant). The quarter callers, Goddess and God will meet their assigned guide. After the meditation, everyone will grab a pen and paper, write down what they wish to achieve in terms of their spiritual development. One achievement at a time is best. Once that is done, everyone will wrap their piece of paper over their crystal quartz, charged and consecrated over some burning frankincense, keeping paper and crystal in a handy place inside a selected drawstring pouch.
Goddess: To the Goddess Sunna, thank you for coming forth to protect and charge our circle. Thank you for lending us your joy and optimism your fiery energy brought. Hail and farewell!
God: To the God Mani, thank you for coming forth to protect and charge our circle. Thank you for allowing us to tap into our intuitive knowledge and understanding our dreams. Hail and farewell!
Thor: To the God Thor, thank you for coming forth to protect and charge our circle. Thank you for lending us your strength and fighting spirit, by allowing us to always defend our own truth and power. Hail and farewell!
Odin: To the God Odin, thank you for coming forth to protect and charge our circle. Thank you for lending us your courage and Shamanic power, so that we always strive to persevere in our quest for knowledge. Hail and farewell!
Loki: To the God Loki, thank you for coming forth to protect and charge our circle. Thank you for showing us how to better understand and work with the forces of Chaos and Order. Hail and farewell!
Ran: To the Goddess Ran, thank you for coming forth to protect and charge our circle. Thank you for opening the gates of your spiritual and occult knowledge. Hail and farewell!
May this circle be open but unbroken
May the peace of the Goddess be ever in our hearts.
Merry Meet and Merry Part
And Merry Meet again.
